Even being near to the Pearl of the Lake,the beautiful Bellagio, Villa Melzi is one of the most famous and attractive destinations of Lake Como.
Commissioned by Duca Francesco and historically belonging to the Melzi d’Eril family, Villa Melzi is now an Italian national monument.
The Villa, elegantly lying on the coast of the headland of Bellagio on the Como branch, was built between 1808 and 1815 by the architect Giocondo Albertolli.
Sumptuous gardens, cared in every detail, stretch over 800 meters along the lake. The great double-ramped staircase wraps around the entrance where you can admire 4 white marble lions statues.
The Museum, built in the old greenhouse originally intended for the cultivation of citrus fruits, theOrangery, the English gardens and the family chapel of the Melzi d’Eril, represent the area where dedicated to the thousands of tourists who make a stop at Bellagio.
