Montemezzo – May 3, 2025 from 6:00 p.m.
The Pro Loco di Montemezzo is organizing an event to discover the ancient village of Burano. The event consists of a food and wine itinerary between pulen (the alleys) and linvolt (the cellars) of the characteristic historical center of the village.
The itinerary is divided into 7 stages.
The meeting point is located at the entrance to the village of Burano. This is where visitor registration will take place. They will be given a Pass with information on the stages of the food and wine tour.
The FIRST STAGE will be reached a little further on by entering the alleys of the village

Along the path that will lead visitors to the first stop, on the left you can notice the large cup-shaped boulder found at the beginning of the 20th century. At this boulder, the men of the Neolithic period made rounded hollows, probably to use them during funeral or magical rites. According to the historians Giovio and Buzzetti, sacrifices were made to the gods at the boulder.
At the stop, where a welcome aperitif will be served, you can also take the opportunity to take a look at one of the many characteristic cellars scattered around the village, evidence of rural life of times gone by.
With the SECOND STAGE you discover an evocative stretch of the village, characterised by three votive frescoes.
A selection of cheeses will be offered to visitors on site.

First of the three frescoes – Crucifixion of Christ – Commissioned by the Tremari Brothers – 1871

Second of the three frescoes – Madonna of the Rosary with the Child between St. Joseph and St. Vincent Ferreri – Commissioned by Giuseppe Tognola, – 8 October 1766

Third fresco – Madonna standing with the Child between Saint Joseph and Saint Bernardino – Commissioned by Bernardino Caraccio – 1870
We will then travel another short stretch, heading towards the THIRD STAGE.

Along the way to the stage, it will be possible to make a short stop to visit another characteristic point of the village: the cellar of one of the oldest houses in the village dating back to 1597.
The third stage offers participants the chance to taste a delicious “campagnola” omelette, also accompanied in this case by an excellent glass of wine.

Just near the stop, located at the western end of the village, there is another fountain testifying to the abundance of water enjoyed by the village.
The position also offers a splendid Lake view.
The FOURTH STAGE will be reached by moving along a cobbled stretch and leads to the top of the village of Burano where the street of the same name starts. The stop, accompanied by live music, takes place in a panoramic square where another dish will be served, stewed sausage, obviously accompanied by a glass of local red wine.

The FIFTH STAGE is located at the characteristic stone fountains of the village. Here bread and salami will be served accompanied by the inevitable glass of wine.

A final stretch of road along Via Burano, between stone houses and ancient porticoes, leads to the main square of the ancient village where we find the SIXTH STAGE which includes a traditional dish: potatoes and rüstii. Even on this occasion, wine will not be missing.

The Piazza del Borgo, where the stop is held, has for years represented the heart of the Borgo guarded by the walls of the picturesque pastel-coloured houses.
Immediately near the square, it will be possible to visit two other cellars, able to tell the simple life of the area in the past years … and in many cases still today.

In the square you have the opportunity to admire another fresco – Crucifixion of Christ with the Madonna, Mary Magdalene and St. John at his feet – commissioned by the spouses Giovanni and Domenica Badel – 1894
At this point, visitors will descend along the mule track that leads from the village to the Town Hall of Montemezzo. Here they will reach the SEVENTH STAGE, in the area in front of the Pro Loco headquarters, near the Church of San Martino.

During the descent it will be possible to stop near the ancient votive chapel, with its ancient frescoes, and admire the enchanting panorama.
Near the stage you can visit the church of San Martino, as well as a splendid cellar underneath the parish house.

The last stop will offer visitors a plate of chestnut flour gnocchi as well as a typical dessert to close the evening.
At the stage there will be tables and seats, music and it will be possible to use the Pro Loco Bar.
