Going to discover small villages, relics of the Middle Ages or the most recent wars, or even fishing villages, undoubtedly offers an unforgettable experience.

Do not overlook some examples of sacred architecture such as the Church of San Vincenzo in Gera Lario, the monastery of Piona bay or even the Church of Santa Maria del Tiglio in Gravedona.

Discovering Montemezzo between puléén and linvòlt – 2025

Montemezzo – May 3, 2025 from 6:00 p.m.

The Pro Loco di Montemezzo is organizing an event to discover the ancient village of Burano. The event consists of a food and wine itinerary between pulen (the alleys) and linvolt (the cellars) of the characteristic historical center of the village.

Pianello del Lario – Museo della barca Lariana

In the small lakeside village of Pianello del Lario is a unique treasure that awaits discovery and enjoyment. Here, sleeping on the banks of the beautiful Lago di Como, is a defunct 19th century silk mill rededicated by a group of enthusiasts to the preservation of the history and accomplishment of life, commerce, and recreation on the lake.

Brenzio

If you love art – especially the art that speaks to the heart of the people – then a tour of the ancient churches on Lake Como is certain to feed your fancy. Many of the churches with the most expressive art are closed unless there is a Mass or celebration, or one is willing to hire a guide for a private showing. Today I visited the Church of San Giovanni Battista in Brenzio, near Gravedona.

Livo

Livo is a small but lovely, old mountain villaggio with a resident species of goat – the Capra di Livo – and a busy bar and pizzeria called La Baita – the hut – which claims all the village inhabitants – children, parents, and grand-parents – in the late afternoon that ends the lengthy Italian lunch break – pausa pranzo. Central to the town is a pink building with the family name ‘Pradella’ painted in large letters across the facade. This was the Trattoria e Alimentari – restaurant and grocery – of the Pradella family.
